The Gym Insight

Sitting on my balcony reflecting on something I experienced during this week while hitting the gym. The experience of going from feeling bad to worse, to OK and finally at peace.

Like I mentioned, I was at the gym doing what one does when going to the gym – cycling, lifting, stretching, sweating. All of a sudden I started to feel bad, worried for no apparent reason. That feeling increased as I recognized it. It has happened before and the way I see  it coming is that every sound that’s around me starts to appear loud, really loud. And evil. Like a hammer banging inside my head.

As a solution oriented person and NLP Master Practitioner I quickly had the idea that ”I had to DO something about this!”. I started to think about if I could switch the music to something calmer, do some state changing techniques or breathe deeeeeeply. After all  - ”if the change were to be it was up to me!”.

I felt the feeling increasing as I got one of those lightbulb moments when I could see the nature of what was happening to me. In less than a second (as lightbulbs often come) it became very clear what was really going on. I had a bunch of really crappy thoughts. That was all.

As the nature of the human experience is, and always will be, the shadow of those crappy thoughts are crappy feelings. But they do not effect our wellbeing. Our wellbeing is always there, ”underneath it all”, it’s a constant and can never be messed with. With that insight I honestly didn’t care about the crappy feelings running around in my body.

I really became clear to me how separate our feelings and our wellbeing are. They are two completely different things – Our feelings (or moods) are psychological, our wellbeing is beyond that!

For all I cared the feelings could run wild in there all day long, I knew in my heart that they could not hurt me. Paradoxically though, when I let the crappy feelings run free they shifted to calm and peace. I started feeling love for them as I saw how innocent and harmless they actually were.   I didn’t have to do anything. I just had to look – Look in the direction of what is actually true about our being. And see (once again!) - See that everything was perfect!

Looking forward to your comments!

With love and kindness,

David

Well doing comes out of well being

As I had a nice work out this morning and my mind was clear the phrase ”It’s called human being not human doing” popped into my head. Interestingly though, what seems to be true is that the more we are able to just be the higher our level of doing seems to get.

A thing I often do with my clients is have them go back to a moment of deep good feelings or a moment where everything just seemed to work effortlessly. A time when the client had flow, when things just happened as if by itself. It may be a athletic performance, a conversation in which time and space dissapeared, painting, singing, walking in nature, holding a new born etc.

When they go back and I sense that they are reliving that moment I ask ”Do you have a lot of thoughts, few thoughts or no thoughts?”. The answer  I get is always very few or no thoughts. There’s just being. That answer is often followed by an ”aaaah!” (universal code for insight).

They way I see it, our thinking about how we are suppose to do the thing we’re setting out to do perfectly, actually gets in the way of our natural ability to do it perfectly. It gets in the way of our universal intelligent, fluent being. Our being is the force that makes whatever degree of skills we have developed/learn excel. Plus, it feels really good.

Go back to some of the moments in your life when time seemed to stand still, when you did what you did effortlessly and as if guided by something outside of yourself. Go back to a moment in which you felt a deep good feeling of love, connection and peace.

Now. Ask yourself. Did you think a lot about what you did in that given moment?

Be and Stay Great!

Balloon insight

Back in Scandinavia after the second weekend at Supercoach Academy with Michael Neill in Los Angeles. I want to share with you one of, if not the, biggest insight during the weekend.

Background story: After getting coached by Linda Pransky one of the students of the academy had a shift in consciousness. The person was able to see the situation in a new light and everybody in the room could hear that. A lot of people could also see an actual physical shift. There were something new, something fresh in the appearance of this person. When Linda Pransky commented on this and said ”it’s as if you got rid of the weight on your shoulders” I suddenly got an insight. All I could see was this big colorful balloon rising and rising and then, getting blocked for a second then continuing to rise.

What I got on a deeper level than ever before is that the nature of the human spirit, our wellbeing and love functions in the same way. Our nature is to rise, to grow, to heal and to flow (nice rhyme, eh? :-). It’s just in the design of life. However, we also get blocked sometimes – by our thoughts. Thoughts weigh us down and can make life seem pretty hard if we take them serious. When our thoughts looks like reality it makes sense to power up and go ”out there” to fix it. When we see it as thought, and just a thought, we are able to relax and realize that there’s not much to do about it but that it will soon go away. That’s just the nature of thought – it comes and it goes, like the train on a train station.
If we are willing to sit with it for a while, our mood will automatically rise.

So, realize that you are perfect, you couldn’t get rid of the rising, the growing, the healing or the flowing even if you wanted to. It’s not how you are put together. Be gentle with yourself when you are in a low mood and know that it will rise!

Getting passed challenges

Here’s my video on how to getting over, around and through challenges. When you watch the video, think about in what area these questions are most needed for you right now.

1. What’s great about this?
- What could be great about this?

2. What’s not great yet?

3. What can I do in order to get it the way I want to?

The spice called YOU!

Hi there!

This blog is about adding more of YOU into the mix. We all have so much more inside of us, a unique flavour that needs to be expressed. I believe that’s when we do our best work as heart centered helpers. I also believe that when we act and help from the core of our own being, we automatically get out of our own head and therefore we do better quality work that get better results and that FEELS GOOD while we do it!

How would you do your work if you did it from the very CORE of your BEING? What would you do differently?
